The Sierra de Aracena is so beautiful, and Corteconcepcion is such a welcoming village. The local people made us feel so welcome, we tried to talk with the locals over a few tapas, and even though we didn’t understand each others language we still had a great time. The Townhouse is a great base, and the wood burner was fantastic for heating the house. We enjoyed Fran & Mike’s company during our visit, and thank you for looking after us so well.

Came to Corteconcepcion and Aracena to walk theSenderos – which we really enjoyed. We loved the kitchen in the house, as we cooked every night with such great quality local produce – all in all, a great holiday.

Fiesta weekend June 2009
Here are some of the lovely memories we are taking back to Hull of our holiday in No. 12 Evaristo Perez:
Watching the sunset at Barcina
Sat in the street drinking wine and watching the stars
The smell of rosemary strewn across the village streets
Walking with Fran across the hills to Valdezufre for breakfast
Drinking in Bar Jesus with Mike and friends on Fiesta weekend
Watching the ‘special person’ conduct the brass band
Following the procession through the streets during fiesta
Fireworks
Swimming in the lake with no one else around
Seeing the storks
And listening to Gary order una pinta and getting a pizza!!
I could go on and on but just want to say thanks for sharing this ‘mellow’ part of Spain

Dear Fran & Mike. Thank you both so much for showing
us such a fantastic time and providing such a
charming and comfortable home for us to use on our
honeymoon. Your insights into the region and your
intimacy with the community made our time here
something more than a holiday. You truly helped us
feel like part of the Corteconcepcion family. Thank
you for the special touches: the home made pies and
jam, plus the olives from market. We really enjoyed
meeting all the locals in Bar Jesus, and Bar Javier.
The Christmas Eve afternoon drinks, was a real
experience. Walking with Fran was so enjoyable and
we learned a few things about the real Spain. We
hope to see you again.

We had a fantastic break, thank you Fran & Mike. We
enjoyed : the evening of tapas in the village bars.
The day at the lake in the sunshine, followed by the
walk back to Corte, where we saw hoopoes (Bird!). We
walked to and from Aracena and saw the famous black
pigs. The other highlights were: the lovely lunch of
Jamon at Bar Javier in the village, and the stars at
night…. The house was lovely and comfortable, with a
good range of books and DVD’s. Off to Seville now to
explore. Thank you again.

We really enjoyed a fantastic holiday here thanks to
the super hospitality of Fran & Mike. The highlights
of the trip: visiting the jamon factory, buying
chorizo and lomo. The railway trip around Riotinto
Mines. Seville Cathedral & Bullring. The Grutas
caves in Aracena. The walks, birds and sun. And El
Rocio (definitely worth the visit). Many thanks.

We cannot wait to get back here!!! Loved it again.
Our second visit to Fran & Mike’s. Great people that
you only meet once in a lifetime!

April 2008
A bird watching week in the most gorgeous scenery –
the meadow flowers & rural villages with their
storks were fantastic. Travelled many miles,
including down to Donana and the Huelva region – an
absolute must for any “birder”. Black storks, purple
heron and the eagles and vultures were amazing. Over
120 species noted in a week… Fran & Mike perfect
hosts & the house immaculate. Learnt some Spanish,
and the meaning of “Hay”. I can now have café
manchou!

Fran & Mike the perfect hosts, always offering help
and giving us lifts – next time we’ll hire car and
spoil them (or leave them in peace!) The little
house is more than well equipped with everything.
Fran has thought of it all. The food and the BBQ was
wonderful, the walks were fabulous. The local people
are so polite and patient given our poor Spanish (we
will try harder next time) especially the twins at
Tienda Maru, the Estanco lady and Manuel (Bar Jesus)
and his kind family. Many, many thanks. Seville was
a wonderful city, especially the Alcazar.

After reading the visitor book; there isn’t much we
can add. We enjoyed our week very much. The
surroundings are beautiful, the house is spacious
and comfortable and Fran and Mike are great hosts.
The evening in the village bar was fantastic. So if
we come to this region again (and there are still
many walks left for us) we will hope that we can
spend our holiday on the same address again. Thanks
for everything.

December 2007
A few of our favourite things….. Seeing the pigs
running around the Cork Oak trees… The Ham’s hanging
in bars and restaurants….. The storks nest on the
church….. Going to Bar Jesu for tapas and having the
sweet lady show us how to warm our toes by pulling
the tablecloth over laps….. A cosy warm charcoal
fire was under the table!!! Thanks for everything….

December 2007
Just a long weekend but we had a really good time.
The weather was sunny in the day and cooler at
night. We did a number of walks as well as visiting
the Grutas / Caves in Aracena. – special... Mike &
Fran gave us a warm welcome, as did Scooby. We are
coming back next spring. Thank you both.
